Dear students,
Hope all of you are in good health and progressing
well in your research. For your information, the following are events that will
be conducted in the month of June, July
and August 2013.
Defence
Research Proposal (DRP)
The DRP is scheduled on the 3rd July 2013 (Wednesday). The recent Jawatankuasa Kecil Akademik Pengajian Siswazah (Postgraduate
Academic Sub-Committee) meeting which was held on 23rd May 2013 had decided that
with immediate effect, the following GUIDELINES
must be observed:
1) PhD
Programme
DRP is COMPULSARY for 2nd semester (full time)
students and 3rd semester (part time) students. 2nd
semester (full time)/3rd semester (part time) students who failed to prepare
themselves for DRP in the 2nd semester (full time)/3rd semester (part time)
will get the First Warning (Amaran 1).
Then, if they failed in the 3rd semester (full time)/4th semester (part time),
they will get the Second Warning (Amaran
2). If they still failed to prepare themselves for DRP in the 4th semester
(full time)/5th semester (part time), the students will be DISMISSED (Gugur Taraf).
2) Master
by Research Programme
DRP is COMPULSARY for 1st semester (full time)
students and 2nd semester (part time) students. 1st
semester (full time)/2nd semester (part time) students who failed to prepare
themselves for DRP in the 1st semester (full time)/2nd semester (part time)
will get the First Warning (Amaran 1).
Then, if they failed in the 2nd semester (full time)/3rd semester (part time),
they will get the Second Warning (Amaran
2). If they still failed to prepare themselves for DRP in the 3rd semester
(full time)/4th semester (part time), the students will be DISMISSED.
As such, those going for DRP in July 2013 are
required to submit their written research proposal to the Postgraduate
Department latest by 19th June 2013 (Wednesday). We need your cooperation in submitting the
research proposal on time as panel experts need enough time to read the
proposal. Any late submission will not
be entertained.
Progress Report Presentation
The progress report
presentation is scheduled on 11th and 12th
July 2013 (Thursday and Friday). This presentation is for students in the 3rd semester and above who have passed the
DRP. Please also be advised that ONLY students who have recently passed
their DRP on 3rd May 2013 (Category 1 and 2) are exempted from this
presentation.
As usual, you need to
do power point slide presentation of about 15-20 minutes followed by Q&A.
Please prepare 3 copies of your handouts for the panel experts. Remember,
please present progress. We look forward for your cooperation and please kindly
do not request for change of time and panels.
Workshops (June, July and August 2013)
For your information, the Postgraduate Department is currently planning
for more workshops for the students. The followings are the confirmed events
which are opened for all. Kindly confirm your attendance by informing nurfarra@gmail.com latest by 14th June 2013 (Friday). We welcome any
suggestions you might have of workshops that you would require during your
research process.
