Dear All,
As has been informed earlier this semester, I would like to remind all of you that the research progress presentation (2015/2016) will be held on the 30 & 31 of December 2015.
Please be informed that ALL research students in Semester 3 onwards who have passed their Defense of Research Proposal (DRP) are required to present their research progress in the progress presentation session held once every semester. Attendance is compulsory for all candidates.
However, please be informed that progress presentation is exceptional ONLY for candidates who had defensed their proposal this semester and who had submitted their intention to submit.
Hence, any candidate who is unable to present your research progress as required will have to provide
us an official letter to the Dean indicating reasons of your absence.
Schedule of the presentation for each candidate involved will be
announce soon.
Please take note of the following requirements for your progress presentation:
a) Candidates in Semester 3 and 4
10 minutes presentation, via power point presentation
5 minutes of Q&A by the panel of assessors
Provide 3 copies of your handouts for the assessors
Do
not present what you have presented before but rather your progress
from last semester to the current date as well as your time line (refer the timeline as attached)
b) Candidates in Semester 5 onwards
10 minutes presentation, via power point presentation
5 minutes of Q&A by the panel of assessors
Provide 3 copies of your handouts for the assessors
Present your progress since your last progress presentation
Show your chapter buildup, drafts of your write-up to date (kindly show to the panel of assessors the HARD COPY of your draft chapters),
publication to date and plan to complete. We would expect at least the
expected number of draft chapters to be written as per the time line
given (refer the timeline as attached)
As a general guideline for your presentation, please include all of the following items in your presentation:
1) Problem statement
2) Research objectives
3) Conceptual framework
4) Research design and methodology
5) Progress-to-date [i.e. draft chapters, publication to date, conferences attended]
6) What are the predicaments faced? How do you plan to overcome the challenges faced?
7) Are you on time-according to the Student Supervision Timeline?
8) State any kind of assistance you need from the Postgraduate Department.
Candidates in semester 1 and 2 are encouraged to attend as you can gain a lot of benefits from the presentations.
