The objectives of REC are to safeguard the rights, safety and well-being of human research participants, provide timely, comprehensive and independent review of the ethics of proposed studies and ensure that the research complies with existing laws and regulations.

For the year 2022, the deadline for submitting the application form to obtain the Research Ethics approval is as follows:

Students are advised to submit the required documents soonest possible. Failure to submit all required documents early may cause delays in the approval process (leading to a further delay in data collection, and submission of dissertation on time).

RESEARCH ETHIC APPLICATION (REC)

Just a friendly reminder. Those who have done their DRP, please submit your REC application as soon as possible. The due date for this month is on 18 January 2020. Thank you.

Further information related to REC Application.  It is only applicable to students who have received approval from Faculty to continue their writing after completed the research proposal correction. Thank you.

Submission of Research Ethics Application (Year 2021)

Attention to ALL Master students who will be taking the Dissertation course (RAC883) and Applied Research Project course (RAC873) in Semester March 2021 and September 2021

2.    The Research Ethics Policy (involving humans) was approved on 24 May 2019 at the 169th University Board of Directors (LPU) Meeting. It aims to ensure the implementation of ethical research by all staff and students in UiTM.

3.    According to the Research Ethics Policy, all UiTM students and staff conducting research must apply for and obtain the research ethics approval from the UiTM Research Ethics Committee (except for research that is qualified for exemption using Form REC11). The research ethics approval is required before the data collection process is done.

4.    In line with the Research Ethics Policy, please be informed that students MUST fill out and submit the application form to obtain research ethics approval (FORM REC2-REC5, and REC12 if applicable, OR REC11) to the Secretariat of Research Ethics Research Faculty through the Postgraduate Office:

• REC3 - Research Risk Classification Form
• REC4 - Subject Information Sheet
• REC5 - Checklist for Applicant
• REC12 - Assent Form (for research involving children aged under 18)
• REC11 - Application for Exemption form Ethical Review
