We are pleased to announce that in conjunction with the 2nd Accounting Research & Education Conference (AREC) 2012, a Doctoral Colloquium will be held on 21st February 2012 at Universiti Teknologi MARA.
The aim of this doctoral colloquium is to promote awareness on the current development in the accounting profession and practices, and facilitating continuous improvement in accounting education and research. It is also to expose students’ to some critical insights into their own work in terms of topic, relevant literature and research approach.
The doctoral colloquium too gives doctoral students the opportunity to meet with peers and to discuss their work-in-progress with a view to getting constructive feedback that will enhance their research. This doctoral colloquium jointly organized by MyAA, MAREF and UiTM.
Full papers submitted may come from any sections of PhD students’ work in progress. Candidates should submit a full paper of the (planned) doctoral research, outlining the research problem against the existing literature, discussing the methodology and showing some initial empirical results (if applicable). Full paper should be no longer than 15 pages (plus figures, tables, and references).
Papers submitted may come form any sections of PhD students’ work in progress. This can include the theoretical and practical perspectives of accounting research both in the public and private sectors and in relation to the following areas:
·         Development of accounting education and profession
·         Accounting professional qualification and competency
·         Performance management and control system towards efficiency
·         Financial criminology and Forensic accounting for organization transformation
·         Ethics and governance under social transformation
·         Accounting information system
·         Public sector reform, accounting change and accrual accounting
·         Accountability and transparency of government, private sectors and NGOs
·         Islamic financial practice (Enhancement)
·         Taxation Practice and GST
Papers outside of these themes with relevance to the understanding of accounting profession in contributing towards higher quality and efficiency of organization are also welcome.

Papers presented in this doctoral colloquium will be treated as confidential and will not be published.
Best Paper Awards: All papers submitted to the Doctoral Colloquium are considered for the award.
